Strap On Dildo
After you get down and dirty, it's time to get pretty and clean! If you may have mastered how to use your suspenders, but when the fun is over and you're out of the post-orgasm haze, it's time to think about how to clean your suspenders! In this article we will see how to clean each type of belt and even your seatbelt, so you never want to know how to keep your belt clean and ready for action!
Whether you have a harness kit or you have already purchased a harness dildo and harness separately, you will need to clean both parts differently. First, we will include cleaning the dildo part of your bundling type, then we will keep your harness clean.
Since your harness is shared by two people, it's even more important to keep things clean, so we'll cover best hygiene practices as well!
How to clean a belt with no electronic components on a dildo
If your harness doesn't have any internal motors, it will be waterproof and easy to clean! There are a few different techniques depending on whether the strap of your dildo is made of porous or non-porous material. So the first step is to determine which category your dildo falls into.
- Non-porous materials
- 100% silica gel
- ABS and other hard plastics
- Glass
- Stainless steel
- Some sealed forests
- Porous materials
- Jelly
- Rubber
- PVC
- TPR / TPE
- Latex
- Self-brand realistic skin materials (such as Fanta muscle, SuperSkin, etc.)
How to clean the non-porous tube bundle
We always recommend buying non-porous watch bands because they don't have any tiny pores where bacteria or germs can hide. Silicone bandages are the most popular because they are physically safe and more reliable and flexible than other non-porous materials. As long as your non-hole watchband is waterproof, without any electrical appliances inside, you can also deep clean and disinfect! Here are five ways to disinfect your suspenders.
Toy Wipes
This is the least effective way to clean your lacing, but sex toy wipes are a good choice when you're in a pinch or playing on the road. I wouldn't use them as your only cleaning method, although they won't wash everything off the toy.
Soap and water
Very good soap and water! This classic but effective way to keep your straps clean. Choose unscented soaps that won't irritate you if you accidentally touch your genitals. Using warm water and soap, make sure every part of the harness is wiped down, every nook and cranny. Then rinse the toy to make sure there is no soap left on it.
Sex toy cleaner
Different sex toy cleaners can be used in different ways, so be sure to check the label for specific instructions. Most sex toy cleaners come in spray or foam form and need to be washed off afterwards. I would advise you to check the ingredients of anything you are allergic to and choose fragrance-free ones.
Dish washer
Another way to thoroughly clean non-electric ties without holes is in the dishwasher! Obviously, you want to wash in a clean, empty dishwasher, not with your other dishes! It's also important not to use soap. If your dishwasher has a sterilizing function, use it. If not, you can wash it at least 5-10 minutes at 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
Boil your strap-on
Boiling your dildo is a great way to disinfect it thoroughly. Make sure your pot is big enough, then dip your dildo in boiling water. Let your sex toy soup simmer for about 5 minutes. If your straps are made of glass or metal, place a cloth over the bottom of the pan to prevent it from touching the walls. While you don't have to cook your belt before each use, it's best to do so after each use.
What if my seat belt is made of porous material?
If your lace is made of porous materials, you need to be more careful when cleaning it. The holes in porous materials are so small that it is impossible to clean them completely. Over time, bacteria and mold can build up in these holes. Porous materials also degrade faster, so you can't boil porous strapping materials or put them in the dishwasher.
Stick with soap and water or sex toy cleaner.
You'll want to use a mild, unscented soap or sex toy cleaner and warm (not hot) water to clean porous toys. Wash and dry thoroughly, but be careful not to wipe too hard or use a rough towel, as this can also damage the fabric.
Also, you should consider changing your porous bandage more often, as you can't completely clean or sterilize it. If possible, use non-hole bandages instead, as they are better for you!
Clean the electrical part of the waterproof tape.
Unfortunately, you can't cook or put in the dishwasher if your system comes with electronic components, such as vibration bands. Extreme heat can damage the machine, and you don't want that. I broke my favorite sex toy earlier, and I can tell you now, it was heartbreaking!
Here are some of the same options as above:
- Sex wipes - Don't rely on wipes as your only cleaning method, but if you can't completely clean your bandage, you can use them occasionally.
- Soap and water - Apply some mild soap to your straps and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Sex Toy Cleaner - Follow the instructions for your sex toy cleaner
What if your seat belt isn't waterproof?
If your harness is not waterproof, you will need to find ways to prevent any water from getting into the electronics while ensuring that it is well cleaned.
Grab a damp cloth and some mild soap or sex cleanser. Wipe the toy down with a damp cloth and soap or sex toy cleaner. Don't use too much soap because it's hard to wash off. Then rinse the soap/cleaner off the cloth or wipe all soap or sex toy cleaner off with a clean, damp cloth.
How to clean your harnesses
You know how to keep your dildo on the tip. Let's look at how to clean different types of straps. While your braces won't be as dirty as dildos, they will absorb a variety of bodily fluids from you and your partner, so it's just as important to stay clean between uses.
Here are the different types of wiring harnesses and how to clean them:
Underwear Style Harnesses
Suspenders are easiest to keep clean because they resemble regular underwear. When it comes to cleaning underwear style straps, you have two options:
- Throw it in the washing machine! Be sure to follow the washing instructions that come with the straps, as different fabrics have different recommended temperatures. Personally, I would avoid putting it in the tumble dryer as it can weaken the fabric over time.
- Wash your hands. If you use the straps more than you wash your clothes, you can wash them by hand with the appropriate detergent and hang them up to dry.
Nylon strap style harness
Most nylon belt style belts are also machine washable, but you should check the manufacturer's instructions first. You may also need to remove some components, such as O-rings, before placing them in the washing machine.
Leather harness
Leather harness is the most difficult to maintain. Because they are porous, it is best to avoid using leashes with multiple partners. Again, you should always check the manufacturer's guidelines as they are specific to your seat belt.
- Wipe the entire harness thoroughly with a damp cloth and soap. Be sure to wash all the soap off.
- Pat the seat belt with a towel and let it dry.
- Use a leather conditioner to replace any moisture lost during cleaning to keep the leather soft.
