Want an orgasm? If you want to, first you need to learn to masturbate.
Most people are probably aware that masturbation is a healthy practice, and many experts actively promote its physical and mental benefits. Masturbation is known to relieve stress and increase body confidence, but there are also claims that masturbation can affect sexual patterns with other people. Here's what a British sexologist has to say!
Experts and researchers have said that being able to use masturbation to learn about your sensitive zones and reach orgasm is more likely to lead to higher pleasure during sex.
The backlash against masturbators who masturbate with devices (such as massage sticks or airplane cups) is that they orgasm during sex with others because props can't match the pleasure.
A study of these differences was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. The study included more than 2,000 women and vaginas who were heterosexual or had had sex with a male partner.
On average, the subjects had sex with their partners twice a week and masturbated once every two weeks. Most people masturbate by clitoral stimulation, and about half by vaginal penetration, but nearly all said they used the same method for intimacy with their partners. It was also found that subjects who used the same method had a higher chance of overcoming difficulties and experiencing greater pleasure.
The results suggest masturbation plays an important role in women's discussions about how to orgasm, said study author David Schauer, a professor of psychology at the University. The professor also points out that relationships are an important variable, with research showing that people who are satisfied with their relationships are more likely to have orgasms during sex.
